Kansas City, MO – Amethyst Place invites the community to join in celebration of a milestone moment: the grand opening of its 32-unit nonprofit-owned housing campus and commemorating its 25th anniversary year. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, June 27 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at 2750 Tracy Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109.

This momentous event marks the completion of a $16.5 million expansion project that nearly doubles Amethyst Place’s housing capacity—growing from 37 units on 28 & Troost to 69 supportive housing units across the two campuses. The new development includes 25 apartments and 7 townhomes, as well as dedicated spaces for wraparound services such as a household pantry, wellness center, recovery coaching, youth and adult empowerment programs, and family gathering areas including a playground and outdoor seating. Guests will enjoy light bites and refreshments provided by Ruby Jean’s, as well as inspiring remarks from local leaders including Missouri State Senator Barbara Anne Washington and Blaine Proctor, Director of Housing & Community Development for the City of Kansas City, MO.

“This expansion helps meet a critical need in our community,” said Starla Wulf Brennan, Executive Director of Amethyst Place. “Too many families are waiting too long—often while unhoused or separated with kids in foster care. With this growth, we can offer stability, dignity, and healing to more than 300 women and children annually.”

As a nonprofit-owned development, the project reflects an innovative and replicable model Amethyst Place encourages other mission-driven agencies and grassroots organizations to adopt to address the affordable housing crisis with lasting impact. Campus tours, exclusive 25th anniversary merchandise, and opportunities to learn more about Amethyst Place’s transformational work will be available throughout the event. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP at www.amethystplace.org/events
